- Open Settings / Access control / Device Manager.
- Select New device manager in the top right corner, enter a Name and confirm with Create.
- In the Configure Windows Device manager dialogue, use Copy to put the address shown there on the clipboard.
- Open the Settings dialogue in the Windows client, paste the address into Quick setup URL and confirm with Next.

The Device Manager software also has to be installed on the Windows computer that controls the devices.
How the setup works
You no longer define a user name and a password. When you create a device manager, the software generates an access key automatically and provides an address that contains this key. All you transfer to the Windows client is that address, and the client uses it to authenticate.
Two things are worth knowing:
- The address contains the access key. Treat it like a password and do not pass it on.
- The access key has no expiry date. It stays valid until you replace the configuration.
Creating a device manager and copying the configuration
In the software, open Settings / Access control / Device Manager. This is where you see all device managers that already exist.
- Select New device manager in the top right corner.
- Under Name, enter a description that lets you recognise the device manager later, for example the location or the computer name.
- Confirm with Create.
The Configure Windows Device manager dialogue opens straight away. It shows the complete address for the client. Use Copy to put it on the clipboard and only close the dialogue once you have pasted it. If the address gets lost, you can generate a new one, see Retrieving or replacing the configuration.
The address is blacked out in the image because it contains the access key.
Entering the configuration in the Windows client
Move to the Windows computer and open the Settings dialogue in the Device Manager client. Paste the copied address into the Quick setup URL field in full and confirm with Next.
The client then connects to the software, and the device manager is shown as active under Settings / Access control / Device Manager.
Advanced setup in the client
The Advanced setup link takes you to a view where you can maintain the address manually and change the language of the client.
Save applies your entries. The Basic setup link takes you back to the quick setup.
Retrieving or replacing the configuration
You need the configuration again when you reinstall the client or move it to a different computer. To do so, open Settings / Access control / Device Manager, open the context menu of the device manager concerned and select Copy config and reset credentials.
The software first shows a warning and asks whether you really want to set the device manager up again or install it on another computer. The reason: confirming generates a new access key and invalidates the previous one. A client that is still running with the old address loses its connection and has to be set up with the new address.
If the device manager is working properly, cancel at this point. After confirming, copy the new address as described above and enter it in the client.
