What are bonus periods and what are their benefits?
Bonus periods are a flexible way to give your new and existing members a non-contributory training period. The classic is the free month. Whether as a rate model or during the contract period as a small thank you for your loyal members.
Bonus periods are ideal for marketing campaigns for new members. You can add a bonus period to the payment method of a rate with just a few clicks. You can decide whether the bonus period is granted at the beginning of the contract or at the end of the initial term. You can also decide whether the cancellation period should be postponed as a result of the bonus period.
How do I add bonus periods to my rates and what do I need to keep in mind?
In order to seamlessly integrate a bonus period into a current contract, bonus periods are in multiples of the reference value of the associated payment method. The only exception, annual payment methods - here bonus periods can be assigned on a monthly basis.
To add a bonus period, you need to select the rate from the main menu Settings / Membership management / Rates. Using the three-dot menu of the desired rate period you can add or edit a payment method. In the new window that appears, you can now create or change the bonus period under Advanced settings.
Important: The bonus period for the rate is always added to the configured term. If you want to configure a tariff with 12 months initial term including 3 months bonus period, select 9 months as term and add the bonus period when configuring the payment method.
Types of Bonus periods
You can choose between the bonus period being in place at the start date of membership or at the end of the first membership term.
For the option at the beginning, you can decide whether the bonus period should extend the first term for the amount of the given bonus or not.
If you put the bonus period at the end, it will always extend the first term for the amount of bonus given.
For a separate display of term and bonus period at the online check-out, please check the box.
The postponement of the cancellation period means that the three-month cancellation period for a 12 + 3 rate actually expires after the 12th month. If you do not select this option, the member must cancel after 9 months at the latest to be able to terminate the contract after 15 months total term.
After you click at SAVE CROSS FACILITY, your settings will be shown at the payment method overview within the rate setting.
Create a contract in back office
If you have a prospect and want to add a new contract, or you directly create a member in PerfectGym Next, go to the member overview, widget for Active Memberships, click on the three dot menu and choose New membership.
A pop-up window appears where you then select the type of membership, in our case Rate, the Rate you want to add, the term, the payment frequency (if you have more than one set up for the term, you can choose) and the membership start date. Now you see the payment calendar as a preview and the bonus period is shown with the icon in blue named BP.
Click on NEXT (you will see a summarized overview) and then SAVE.
After the contract has been created, the bonus period is also set up in the member account. Proportionate benefit periods and contributions are shifted backwards for bonus periods at the beginning of the contract, according to the length of the bonus period.
How to add a bonus period to an existing contract
You will find the option to add a bonus period via the three-item menu of an existing contract. Bonus periods can either have a fixed start time or be added to the end of the contract period. If there is a rest period with a contract extension, the bonus period will also be moved back dynamically.
There you can also view all granted bonus periods for this contract and delete granted periods. The BP label indicates that a bonus period has been added to a contract.
