- In the first tile, go to the Access mediums section.

Assigning a membership card to a member
Once you have installed your card reader (see Setting up a USB magnetic card reader), you can assign membership cards to your members.
Permission: Manage member access cards
Go to the member's file and open the Overview tab. The Access mediums section sits in the first tile. How you start depends on whether the member already has an access medium:
- If the member has no access medium yet, the section shows an Add a new access medium button. Click it.
- If the member already has an access medium, open the three-dot menu of the first tile and click Add a new access medium.
The Add a new access medium window opens. Under Type, keep Member card.
The Identifier field is already active when the window opens. Swipe the access card at your reader, and the card number appears automatically in the field.
If your card reader is set up as a device, click Read instead. The window then shows a Select device list with the card reader devices configured for your facility. Click the device you want to use. The window shows "Please place a card to the [device name]". Place the card on that reader, and the card number fills the Identifier field.
Finally, click Save.
Re-assigning a second card to a member
Your member may have lost their card, and you need to assign them another one temporarily.
In this case, proceed again as described under Assigning a membership card to a member.
You can also set up a replacement card system (see Forgotten card vs. Create replacement card).
Assigning a Buddy card to a member
You can give your member an additional access card for a friend. With this Buddy card, the friend can check in and train together with the member.
The Buddy card type is only offered when a buddy check-in benefit is configured for the selected facility, and the member needs the Buddy Check-in service. How to set this up: Bring a friend: Setting up and using buddy check-in.
To assign the card, open Add a new access medium in the member's file as described above. Under Type, choose Buddy card.
Then swipe the access card or click Read, as for a membership card. The card number appears in the Identifier field. Click Save.
All cards of the member are listed in the Access mediums section. Each entry shows the type and the card number. Via the three-dot menu of an entry, you can choose Edit access medium or Delete access medium.
Special cases
Only special characters appear
Check that the Shift key on your keyboard is not engaged. If so, deactivate it.
Nothing reacts
Check that your card reader is working:
- Is it switched on?
- Is there an indicator light?
- Does it emit a sound when the card is swiped?
