IBAN visibility in the member account, in documents and in the history

In this article, you'll learn where a member's IBAN is fully visible, where it is masked, and what each of those depends on.

Fast lane

  1. In the payment tile of the member account, the IBAN has been permanently masked since 18.08.2026, with no setting to switch it back.
  2. In contract documents and direct debit mandates, masking depends on a studio setting that is independent of the payment tile.
  3. In the history, the IBAN is still fully visible, which is currently the only place with the complete number.

Payment tile in the member account

Since 18.08.2026, the payment tile in the member account shows the IBAN only in masked form, both in the short view and in the expanded detail view. Only the first two and the last four characters remain visible, the rest is replaced by two asterisks, for example DE**1234.

This masking is hard-coded and does not depend on any setting. There is no way to show the full IBAN in the payment tile again.

Contract documents and direct debit mandates

Independently of the payment tile, there is a separate setting that only applies to generated documents: contract documents and SEPA direct debit mandates.

You find it under Settings / Studio / Privacy policy, in the section "Sensitive information", as the checkbox "Mask IBAN data in contract documents and direct debit mandate documents". You need the permission Manage data protection for it.

Newly created studios have this setting active by default, existing studios have it inactive by default. If it is inactive, contract documents and direct debit mandates show the full IBAN. The BIC and the reference number of the SEPA mandate are not covered by this setting and always stay fully visible, regardless of it.

History

When a bank account is created, changed or deleted, the system writes the full IBAN into the member's history, with the old and the new value in case of a change. This view is not affected by either of the two maskings above.

This is currently the only place where a member's full IBAN can still be traced if you need it for a specific case.
